School Aid
BTGN values education as a transforming agent for poor people’s life and livelihood. Supporting schools is, therefore, at the heart of what BTGN does in its pursuit of creating and strengthening better schools for poor families and their children. The principal aim of the School Aid Project here is to support schools with a view to encourage and foster positive learning environment for poor children.
It is crucial to contextualize why and how BGTN supports schools. Majority of the schools especially in the rural parts of Nepal still have only a limited personnel and infrastructure such as libraries, classrooms, toilets, drinking water, playgrounds, laboratories, teaching resources and quality teachers. Not having good quality personnel and basic infrastructure means that these schools offer a poor learning environment. Even when there are some teaching personnel and facilities, they are often in a poor quality; lack basic maintenance or their use is usually sub-optimal. This can be attributed to various limitations such as lack of adequate knowledge, capacity and institutional base to make the best use of facilities that are pro-poor.
We at BTGN aim to support selected schools that are financially constrained to build and maintain infrastructure. We also aim to help establishing libraries, computer labs and playgrounds to provide students enhanced access to engaging learning materials and a safe learning platform to learn, play and enjoy. We also provide direct funding to schools to buy equipment needed in the schools such as printers, sports materials and music equipment, classroom furniture etc. This will help schools to create better learning and teaching environment and enhance quality learning experience and outcomes among students. We also help to hire and retain better quality teachers, and also provide support for required on-the-job training for teachers to improve teaching knowledge, methods and materials. We appeal interested individuals and organizations support us to our School Aid Project. We ensure that your support will directly help creating and fostering better schools with improved learning environment for the pro-poor quality education.
